Meherob Hasan鈥檚 brilliant bowling after Tanzid Tamim鈥檚 century put Rajshahi in the driving seat at the end of the second day of their National Cricket League first-round match against Khulna at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

In response to Rajshahi鈥檚 426 in their first innings, Khulna were all out for 194 with a deficit of 232 runs.


Ziaur Rahman and Amit Majumdar both hit fifties, scoring 54 and 52 runs respectively for Khulna.

Nahidul Islam scored a valiant 45 off 74 but was denied a half-century by Meherob, while Soumya Sarker added 17 with no other batter reaching double figures.

The standout performer Meherob returned with an exceptional bowling display, claiming 6-35 in 11.2 overs.

Rajshahi started the day on 385-4, yet they could add only 41 runs to their overnight score, as Al-Amin Hossain claimed a fifer.聽

Al-Amin dismissed set batters Farhad Hossain and Shakhir Hossain quickly and then picked two more wickets to finish with 5-96.

Farhad departed on 93 off 192, and Shakhir scored 68 off 125 deliveries, while Tanzid had scored the highest 141.

In another match, Aich Mollah and Marshal Ayub centuries saw Dhaka Metro declare their innings on 408-5/d in Sylhet.

Skipper Marshal scored 127 to put up a 174-run partnership for the third wicket with Aich, who scored 122 runs.

In reply, Barishal reached 22-0 at stumps with both the openers, Iftakhar Hossain Ifty (19) and Abdul Mazid (three), unbeaten at the crease.

At the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna, defending champions Dhaka posted 38-1 after their bowlers Anamul Haque and Nazmul Islam Apu each took three wickets to fold Sylhet for 146 in the rain-hit match.

The match between Rangpur and Chattogram was limited to just 21 overs of play due to a wet outfield at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, following the complete washout of the first day.

聽Rangpur scored 69-1, with Khalid Hasan 37 at the close of the second day鈥檚 play.
