The government has appointed Sheikh Abdur Rashid as new cabinet secretary on a contractual basis.
His two-year service will be counted from October 14 or the day of his joining.
The ministry of public administration on Tuesday issued a gazette notification, signed by senior assistant secretary Nilufa Yesmin, over the contractual appointment of Abdur Rashid.
According to the notification, Abdur Rashid has been appointed on a two-year contract from October 14 or date of joining, which is conditional upon his resignation from any other professional affiliations or organisations including government, semi-government and private offices/organisations.
Other conditions of the appointment would be finalised through agreement, the gazette notification said, adding that the order was issued on published interest.
On August 17, the government appointed retired additional secretary Abdur Rashid as secretary for the secondary and higher education division on contractual basis for two years.
As 25th cabinet secretary of the country, Abdur Rashid will replace Mahbub Hossain, who was joined as the cabinet secretary on January 3, 2023.
Abdur Rashid was born in a Muslim family in Satkhira district.
