A Bangladesh national was killed in the Indian Border Security Force firing at Sadar Dakshin upazila in Cumilla on Monday night.

The deceased, Kamal Hossain, 33, was a resident of Kuriapara in the upazila.


Border Guard Bangladesh 10 battalion Cumilla commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Iftekhar Hossain said that the incident took place near Jashpur BOP of Paharpur village in the upazila.

He said that discussions were going on with the BSF regarding bringing back the body.

Victim鈥檚 elder brother Hiron Mia said that Kamal was shot dead by the BSF as he went 25 yards inside the Indian border at Paharpur adjacent to Jashpur BGB camp in the upazila.

People of the area said that the BSF shot Kamal as he entered India by crossing the barbed wire fence, leaving him dead on the spot.

On September 9, Jayanta Kumar Sinha, 15, was shot dead by the BSF firing while Swarna Das, 13, lost her life in Lalarchak border area of Kulaura in Moulvibazar on September 1.
