ATM Tariquzzaman, a commissioner of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, submitted his resignation letter to the secretary of the Financial Institutions Division on Tuesday.

Tariquzzaman said, ‘I have summited my resignation letter on personal ground.’

Earlier, on September 11, a notification was issued by the Financial Institutions Division, relieving him from his duties with a three-month notice.

Tariquzzaman was appointed as a BSEC commissioner for a four-year term by the government on May 8, 2024.

Prior to that, he served as the managing director of the Dhaka Stock Exchange.

After the Awami League government was ousted on August 5 by a student-led mass uprising, Shibli Rubayat-ul Islam resigned as chairman of the BSEC, and Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed and Rumana Islam resigned as commissioners.

Later, Khondoker Rashed Maqsood was appointed as chairman of the stock market regulatory body by the interim government, and former judge Md Ali Akbar and former Dhaka University professor Farzana Lalarukh were appointed as commissioners.
