Professor ABM Obaidul Islam of Dhaka University鈥檚 physics department joined the Bangladesh Open University as vice-chancellor on Sunday.
The newly appointed VC took charge at the university鈥檚 Gazipur campus, said a press release.
He also held a courtesy meeting with the university teachers, students and officials.
At the beginning of the meeting, the VC paid tributes to the martyrs of the Anti-discrimination Student movement.
Prof Obaidul expressed firm determination of bringing an end to all kinds of irregularities and corruption as well as making a student-friendly university.
Earlier on September 12, the Ministry of Education issued a gazette notification appointing 聽Obaidul Islam as BOU VC for the next four years.
