
A case was filed against nine people on charge of beating Nabokam Polli University College principal with a hammer and forcibly taking his signature on a resignation letter on Thursday in Faridpur’s Saltha upazila.
Victim principal Md Obaidul Rahman lodged the case with Saltha police station Thursday night, officer-in-charge Mohammad Fayezur Rahman confirmed.Â
Some of the accused are Kaium Mollah, Kamrul Gazi, Lalon, Monir and Mia, with Kaium the prime accused.
The plaintiff Friday morning said that some outside miscreants, led by Kaium, Kamrul and their cohorts, beat him with a hammer to force him to resign.
‘I did not sign the resignation letter at my will. So, I filed a case against them for legal action. I hope, I will get justice,’ he said.
Responding to a question, principal Obaidul said that it was not the fault of the students. They were used by those leaders. He didn’t want to harass students.
Faridpur’s senior assistant superintendent of police (Nagarkanda-circle) Asaduzzaman Shakil said that he went to the college after the incident and searched for everything.
‘A drive will be conducted to arrest those, who attacked the principal’, he added.

A video clip, showing the principal being compelled to sign the resignation letter under duress, went viral on social media.
