Bangladesh Nationalist Party acting chairperson Tarique Rahman said on Friday that the forthcoming election would be one of the toughest tests in the history of the country.
The party’s top leader, now in London, came up with the remarks while addressing a virtual views exchange meeting with other party leaders and activists from the districts under Rajshahi division.
Addressing the party’s grassroots leaders and activists, he said that the next election would be a tough test.
‘BNP has always depended on public support for poll results. So, the BNP must continue to maintain the trust of the people as like the previous 17 years.’
He said that the party’s leaders and activists endured oppressions and tortures in the past 17 years, but the party had maintained people’s trust in them.
Tarique urged the party people to refrain from any activities that might destroy people’s trust.
He instructed the grassroots leaders and activists to remain united and above all questions to gain people’s trust through connecting with them.
It was Tarique Rahman’s second views exchange meeting after the party recently planned to hold such meetings virtually between the acting chairperson and grassroots leaders and activists across the country.
The first such virtual meeting was held on Thursday in Rangpur division.
Tarique Rahman at the first meeting warned that some miscreants were trying to destabilise the country by defaming the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, but there was no room for any miscreants in the party.
He also directed the party people to work together to maintain the country’s stability.
