
Religious affairs adviser AFM Khalid Hossain on Tuesday said that normalcy in life would return with everyone’s cooperation in the flood-hit areas.
‘With everyone’s cooperation, we can return to normal life again,’ he said while distributing reliefs among the flood victims in Lalpol Silonia area of Feni.
The adviser noted that people had come forward to help the flood victims irrespective of caste and religion, saying that everyone was playing a role in this regard.
He mentioned that affected people left their homes and took shelter in mosques, madrassahs and various educational institutions due to floods.
‘[Islamic] scholars and various organisations of the country have come forward to help the flood victims. I applaud them,’ he added.
‘In any calamity of the nation, the [Islamic] scholars of this country come forward first, and there was no exception this time too. It is our pride,’ Khalid Hossain continued.
Regarding those who died in the flood, he said that instructions had been given to the deputy commissioner about the burial of the persons died in the flood.
‘If no burial arrangements could be made, they [dead] can be buried outside the flood affected area. In this case, voluntary organisations should come forward,’ he said.
The adviser said that one day’s salary of all the officials of the ministry of religious affairs had been deposited in the chief adviser’s relief fund to help the flood victims.
During his visit, Khalid gave 100 packets of relief materials and Tk 50,000 in cash for the temporary shelter in Silonia Madrassah of Zaylaskar Union in Sadar Upazila.
He also distributed 1,000 packets of relief materials in Madhupur Jame Masjid area.
