The Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday initiated inquiries against three former lawmakers of the then Awami League government over allegations of amassing illegal wealth.
The former lawmakers are Dr Mansur Ahmed for Rajshahi 5 constituency, Abul Kalam Azad for Gaibandha 4, and Shahe Alam for Barisal 2 constituency.
The commission took the decision at a meeting held at the commission鈥檚聽 headquarters in Dhaka, said ACC deputy director for public relations Aktarul Islam.
According to the allegations, the former lawmakers amassed illegal wealth through embezzling money from different government projects and laundering money during their tenure as lawmakers.
ACC recently initiated inquiries against a number of former ministers and lawmakers, top police officials after the fall of the Awami League government following former prime minister Sheikh Hasina鈥檚 resignation on August 5 amid a student-led mass uprising.
