At least 71 leaders and activists of the Awami League and its youth front Juba League were sued in a case for vandalising and looting a house of a Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader in Rajshahi on July 22.

Rabiul Alam alias Milu, general secretary of Rajshahi City BNP鈥檚 Boalia Thana unit, filed the case on Thursday night accusing 21 named and 50 unnamed AL and JL men, said Boalia model police station officer-in-charge SM Masud Pervej.


Rajshahi City Corporation panel mayor and metropolitan Swechchhasebak League president Abdul Momin, metropolitan unit JL general secretary Tawrid Al Masud Roni and joint general secretary Raihanul Islam Royal, Boalia Thana AL president Atiqur Rahman Kalu, the RCC Ward 19 councillor and Shah Makhdum Thana AL joint secretary Touhidul Haque Sumon, among others, were named in the case.

In the case statement, Rabiul alleged that the accused equipped with sharp weapons, including firearms, machetes, knives, Chinese axes, and GI pipes, stormed into his house, threatened him and the family members with death, and vandalised and looted everything, causing him a loss of Tk 20 lakh.

The OC said that they were trying to nab the accused as all of them went into hiding.
