The size of the advisory council of the interim government led by chief adviser Muhammad Yunus expanded as four more advisers were sworn in on Friday.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath of office to the advisers around 4:15pm at the Bangabhaban in Dhaka.

The new advisers are special assistant to the chief adviser and former cabinet secretary Ali Imam Majumder, retired secretary Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, economist Wahiduddin Muhammad and retired Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

With the addition of four new members, the number of advisers in the interim government鈥檚 advisory council increased to 21.

Earlier, 17 advisers of Muhammad Yunus-led interim government were sworn in, in three phases starting on August 8, following the fall of Sheikh Hasina government in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Hasina resigned and fled to India on August 5. On that day, the cabinet was dissolved. On the next day, the president dissolved the 12th Jatiya Sangsad.
