The interim government on Sunday asked Bangladesh Bank鈥檚 deputy governors to manage their departments on a daily basis until a new governor is appointed.

Deputy governor Nurun Nahar has been assigned to manage the governor鈥檚 daily correspondence following Abdur Rouf Talukder鈥檚 resignation on Friday.

The finance ministry issued a notification in this regard on Sunday.

On August 7, a group of employees of Bangladesh Bank staged demonstration in front of its head office, demanding six contractual officers, including governor and deputy governors, to resign for the alleged involvement with various corruptions.

The deputy governors immediately left offices and had pledged to resign.

The changes came after Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister on August 5 and fled to India, ending her 15-year rule amid an unprecedented student-led mass uprising against her authoritarian regime.

On August 8, a 17-member interim government headed by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus was formed.

On July 12, 2022, Rouf Talukder joined as the governor of Bangladesh Bank for a term of four years.
