
The interim government will take steps to withdraw false and harassment cases filed against protesters within three working days and bring to book those responsible for the deaths of protesters, says a press release.
The death toll from the student protests rose to 377 as a bullet-injured youth died on Friday while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Neuro Sciences and Hospital in Dhaka.
Public relations officer of law ministry M Rezaul Karim informed journalists about the decisions, which were taken during a meeting at the ministry participated by law, justice and parliamentary affairs adviser Asif Nazrul and the officials concerned on Saturday.
According to a press release, those who carried out killings of protesters in a bid to suppress the uprising by students and ordinary people in July and August would be brought to book as soon as possible, steps would be taken to withdraw criminal cases that were filed from July 1 to August 5 to suppress the uprising within three working days, steps would be taken to release juveniles and children detained in children and Juvenile development centres over false and harassment cases within three working days, steps would be taken to withdraw false and harassment cases filed under Cyber Security Act and Anti Terrorism Act as soon as possible, victims of false and harassment cases would be able request for support dialling 16430.
