Rajshahi city people on Thursday started returning things they took away from various government establishments following the resignation of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday.

They returned the things to students who earlier campaigned on Wednesday urging the city people to return what they took away on Monday and Tuesday from various government establishments.

Visiting the Rajshahi City Corporation Building and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib High Tech Park on Thursday morning, people were seen returning various electronic devices including computers, laptops, printers, and furniture including chairs, tables, and sofas.

Tahaz Nur Adi, one of the coordinators of Student Movement Against Discrimination in Rajshahi, said that they were trying to make people understand that what they had taken away were the properties of the state and the people.

‘The people seem to have answered our call. They have been returning things since Thursday morning,’ he said, adding that they had also assured people that they would neither face any harassment nor their names would be disclosed to anyone.

Normalcy, meanwhile, started to return to the city as the government offices, educational institutions, shops and markets opened on Thursday following a two-day uncertainty.

Like the past two days, along with Ansar members, students were also seen controlling traffic movements on the city roads and cleaning the city.

Students also guarded various public establishments and properties including Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Kendrio Udyan, Varendra

Research Museum, and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib High Tech Park on Wednesday night.

They also patrolled the whole city throughout the night to prevent any incidents of attack and looting.
