Thousands of people from all walks of life and ages gathered at Central Shaheed Minar on Dhaka University campus to express solidarity with protesting students demanding the resignation of Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday.

The students started gathering at the Central Shaheed Minar at noon chanting the slogans ‘Ek Dofa, Ek Dabi, Sheikh Hasina Kobe Jabi’.


The protesters were joined by their parents, teachers, singers, musicians, artists, common people and others.

Rickshaw pullers were also seen chanting slogans demanding the resignation of the prime minister with the protesters.

Montajar Hossain, a rickshaw puller, told UNB that he was from Rangpur and his brother Abu Sayed was killed in the unrest.

‘There is no place for murderers in Bangladesh,’ he said.

Md Munna, another puller said, ‘We want justice. They killed students, and even rickshaw pullers were killed. We are with the students.’

They chanted slogans such as, ‘Agun Jalao Ekshathe, Shoiracharer Biruddhe’, 'Amar Bhai Shahid Keno', 'Sheikh Hasina Jobab De', 'Chattra-Jonotar Action', 'Direct action' and 'Ek Dofa, Ek Dabi, Hasina Tui Kobe Jabi'.
