A writ petition was filed on Wednesday seeking a High Court directive on the government to form a judicial inquiry commission to find out the cause of deaths of four children during the student quota reform movement.
Supreme Court lawyer Taimur Alam Khandker filed the writ petition, stating that the four children 鈥揝hafakat Shamir, 11, Ria Goap, 6, Abdul Ahakad, 4, Nayima Sultana, 15,--died after sustaining bullet wounds in between July 18 and July 20 during the movement.
Taimur sought formation of another commission as the government on July 18 formed a one-member inquiry commission headed by Justice Diliruzzaman Khandaker to 鈥榠dentify those responsible for killings of only six people on July 16.
Taimur also prayed for a directive to provide the families of each deceased child with Tk 1 crore in compensation.
Secretaries to ministries of law and home, and the inspector general of police were made respondents in the petition.
