The protesting students, who began their movement against discrimination in government job recruitment and the quota system reform, on Tuesday announced a fresh programme, the March for Justice, in all courts, campuses, and roads across Bangladesh on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s march aimed to drum up support for a demand for a UN probe into mass killings, wholesale arrests, attacks, cases, and disappearances of students and the general public during the ongoing protests over the past couple of weeks.

This fresh demand was in addition to their nine-point demands, which included an unconditional apology from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the resignation of ministers responsible for the situation, and the sacking of police officials accountable for the killings.

One of the coordinators of the students’ platform, Abdul Hannan Masud, made the announcement through a press release on Tuesday night.

They also demanded the reopening of all university campuses, educational institutions, and residential halls, the withdrawal of all forces, including the Army, Border Guard Bangladesh, Rapid Action Battalion, police, and Special Weapons and Tactics, and compensation for the families of ‘martyred’ and injured students and people.
