The eighth Rabindra University Day was celebrated on its campus at Shahjadpur in Siarajganj on Friday.

Vice-chancellor of the university professor Md Shah Azam inaugurated the day by cutting a cake at academic building-3 in the morning, said a press release.

Considering the unstable situation of the country, the university authorities didn’t organise any colourful programme on this occasion.

Local lawmaker Chayan Islam was the chief guest at the event. He expressed his gratitude to students of the university for their responsible behaviour in the critical times of the country.

He also expressed satisfaction with the progress of the university and appreciated the dynamic leadership of the present vice-chancellor.

Professor Shah Azam said that they could not organise the university day on a large scale and colourfully due to the ongoing crisis.

‘We are determined to develop Rabindra University as a major cultural university. Despite our limitations, the university has achieved unprecedented success in education, research and cultural activities, competing with many established older universities. For this reason, the name of Rabindra University was at the top in the students’ choice list among the universities in cluster admission in 2024,’ he added.
