Sammilita Sangskritik Jote will organise week-long protest programmes from Friday against evil and anti-liberation forces, who try to spoil the on-going peaceful student protests for quota reform.
General secretary of the organisation Ahkam Ullah made the announcement at a candle-lit event in front of the national museum in Dhaka’s Shahbag on Thursday to pay homage to those, who killed during the protests.
Participated by cultural activists, the event was moderated by Bangladesh Path Natak Parishad general secretary Ahmed Gias and presided over by vice-president of the SSJ Jhuna Chowdhury.
‘As cultural activists, we support the quota reform movement but cannot accept any killing. We deeply mourn and pay our homage to every person, who died in this movement,’ said Ahkam Ullah.
‘We always want to build a nation free from discrimination, sectarianism. We want a fast solution to the quota reform movement,’ said Jhuna Chowdhury.
The countrywide protest programmes, promoting the values of war of independence, will be inaugurated on the Central Shaheed Minar premises.
