
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday urged the China Chamber of International Commerce to undertake joint research initiatives with the Bangladesh鈥檚 apex trade body to explore the potential and opportunities in the information and communication technology, textiles and garments and light engineering sectors.
At a meeting with leaders of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the China Chamber of International Commerce held at the China World Summit Wing, Shangri-La Circle, in Beijing, FBCCI president Md Mahbubul Alam said that Bangladeshi businesses wanted enhanced collaboration with Chinese counterpart, said a press release.
The FBCCI president invited Chinese businesspeople to invest in Bangladesh, highlighting the facilities and incentives available for foreign investors.
He emphasised Bangladesh鈥檚 robust infrastructure, strategic location and favourable business policies, assuring support from the FBCCI.
Mahbub also stressed the potential for future collaborations in sectors such as IT, garments, textiles and light engineering, seeking support for technology transfer and joint research.
The FBCCI president invited Chinese investors to visit Bangladesh in the future.
The FBCCI president emphasised potential collaborations with the CCPIT and the CCOIC in sectors like IT, garments, textiles, light engineering and joint research to explore market opportunities.
The special economic zones, tax exemptions and skilled workforce are the key advantages that make Bangladesh a lucrative destination for Chinese ventures, he added.
During the meeting, CCPIT secretary general Sun Xiao appreciated the recent infrastructural development of Bangladesh.
He highlighted CCPIT鈥檚 work on building a global corridor to facilitate seamless trade and investment flows, reinforcing the mutual benefits of a strengthened economic partnership between China and Bangladesh.
Business leaders from FBCCI, CCPIT and CCOIC reaffirmed their commitment for deeper economic collaboration, promising growth and prosperity for both Bangladesh and China.
Among others, FBCCI vice-presidents Khairul Huda Chopol and Shomi Kaiser, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Ashraf Ahmed, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka president Kamran T Rahman, CCOIC director general Xu Jinli and CCPIT director Zhu Yingmin were present at the meeting.
