The government has suspended former Rangpur senior judicial magistrate Debanshu Kumar for torturing his wife for dowry.
The law ministry on Thursday issued a gazette notification to this effect.
The notification said that Debanshu, who is now attached to the ministry, was suspended in consultation with the Supreme Court, and following Bangladesh Judicial Service (Discipline) Rules 2017 after Rangpur Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal took his alleged offence into cognisance.聽聽聽聽聽
On April 19, 2022, Dr Hridayita Sarker, wife of Judge Debanshu Kumar, filed the case with the tribunal bringing the allegation of physical torture over dowry against her husband.
