Two prisoners from Cumilla central jail and Barishal central jail died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday.
The deceased are Shah Alam Hawlader, 60, from Betagi upazila in Barguna district, and Hannan Mia, 40, from Kotwali upazila in Cumilla district.
DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Bachchu Mia confirmed the deaths.
Shah Alam Hawlader passed away in the medicine ward at about 7:00am on Sunday. He had been transferred to the hospital from Barishal central jail on June 10 for medical treatment, he said.
Md Hannan, who was serving a sentence in a narcotics case, was brought to DMCH from Cumilla for better treatment on Saturday. He died while undergoing treatment early Sunday, Bachchu Mia added.
Both bodies have been kept at the DMCH morgue.
The jail authorities have filed separate general diaries with Shahbag police station regarding the incidents.
