Film industry insiders are hopeful that Eid films will garner a good response from the audience.

They said that five films, including ‘Toofan’, ‘Mayurakshi’, ‘Agontuk’, ‘Dark World’ and ‘Revenge’ were scheduled to be released in cinemas to entertain viewers during Eid-ul-Azha.


Some 50 cinemas were operating across the country and a few cinemas screened films only during Eid.

Director of ‘Toofan’ Raihan Rafi said he was optimistic about his film’s success as it was a breath of fresh air and Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan had a large fan base in the country.

‘Toofan’ stars Shakib Khan, Mimi Chakraborty, Masuma Rahman Nabila, Misa Sawdagar, Chanchal Chowdhury and others.

He invited film lovers to watch the film in cinemas.

Director of ‘Mayurakshi’ Rashid Palash said the film revolved around a life-oriented story.

He mentioned that films depicting stories of life had been receiving huge responses from the audience in the past few years.

‘Mayurakshi’ stars Dipak Suman, Sadia Mahi, Sumit Sengupta, Farzana Chhobi, Somu Chowdhury, Dipak Sumon and others.

‘People want to watch life-oriented films. Therefore, I am optimistic about the success of ‘‘Mayurakshi’’,’ said Palash, who added that his film would be released only in multiplexes.

‘It won’t be released in single-screen cinemas,’ he said.

Director and producer of ‘Revenge’ Md Iqbal is also optimistic about his film, which stars Ziaul Roshan, Shobnom Bubly, Anindita Mimi, Misha Sawdagar, Amin Sardar and Jadu Azad.

He said that his film contained action scenes that would lift the mood of the audience.

‘Agontuk’, starring Puja Cherry, Shamol Mawla, Mili Bashar, Masum Bsahar, Shahed Ali, has been directed by Sumon Dhar; and ‘Dark World’, starring Munna Khan, Koushani Mukherjee, Misha Sawdagar, Deepa Khandakar, Borda Mithu, has been directed by Mustafizur Rahman Manik.

Media and marketing manager of Star Cineplex Mesbah Uddin Ahmed said that the multiplex would screen three local films, including ‘Toofan’, ‘Mayurakshi’ and ‘Agontuk’ in different branches.

Blockbuster Cinemas general manager Sayed Golam Mohiuddin said on Friday that the multiplex was scheduled to screen four local films, including ‘Toofan’, ‘Agontuk’, ‘Dark World’ and ‘Revenge’.

Lion Cinemas operation manager Asib Ur Rahman said it was scheduled to screen three local films, including ‘Toofan’, ‘Agontuk’ and ‘Revenge’.

Besides, most of the single-screen cinemas in Dhaka have chosen to screen ‘Toofan’.

Owner of Madhumita Cinema Iftekhar Uddin Nawshad said he would screen ‘Toofan’.

‘It was unfortunate that the golden age of our film industry came to an end. However, Shakib Khan-starrer ‘‘Rajkumar’’ received a good response in the past Eid-ul-Fitr. Therefore, I am optimistic about the success of ‘‘Toofan’’,’ said Nawshad.

Shyamoli Cinema manager Ahsanullah said that the cinema would screen ‘Toofan’. He hoped that the film would receive a large audience.
