
Three people, including a female student of Jahangirnagar University, were killed in a road accident in Ganjipur area on the Rangpur-Tista Barrage Road on Saturday.
A bus hit a CNG-run three-wheeler head-on, killing Dipa Rani Sarker, 39, Meherul Islam, 35, and Ajmuda Akhter Rimu, 24, according to the police.
Dipa Rani was a teacher at Kishorganj Degree College in Nilphamari, Meherul was an Ansar member in Kishorganj, and Rimu was a second-year student at Jahangirnagar University. They all were passengers of the three-wheeler.
Four others were also critically injured in the incident.
Confirming the deaths to 抖阴精品, Gangachara model police station officer-in-charge Masumur Rahman said that two people killed on the spot, while another died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
The bodies were sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital from where those would be handed over to families.
The bus driver and helper fled the scene, but the bus was seized. Legal action over the incident was underway, the OC added.
Rimu, a student of the geological sciences department at JU and resident of Rokeya Hall, was on her way home from the university, said her uncle Moniruzzaman.
JU vice-chancellor professor Nurul Alam and geological sciences department chairman professor Shakhawat Hossain expressed condolences over Rimu鈥檚 death.
