
Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University handed over Nazrul Padak organising a programme at Kabi Sufia Kamal Auditorium of the Bangladesh National Museum on Sunday.
Artistes Dalia Nausheen and Salahuddin Ahmed received the award in Nazrul song category while Gulshan Ara Kazi and Anupam Hayat received the award in research category.
The JKKNIU introduced Nazrul Padak in 2009.
Prime minister’s education and cultural affairs adviser Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury was present as chief guest at the programme, which was organised marking the birth anniv of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and presided over by the JKKNIU vice-chancellor Soumitra Sekhar Dey.
Each awardee received Tk 25,000, a bronze crest and a certificate.
Dalia Nausheen, Salahuddin Ahmed and Anupam Hayat were present at the programme.
‘This award is handed over to those who are working to promote the works of Kazi Nazrul Islam. Nazrul was the poet of the common people of Bengal. We have to encourage the new generation to read Nazrul,’ said Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury.
Besides, Khilkhil Kazi was present as special guest at the programme.
After the awards ceremony, students and teachers of JKKNIU and awardees entertained the audience by staging cultural performances.
