Leaders of Bangladesh Khetmajur Samiti, at a protest rally in Dhaka on Saturday, demanded allocation in the forthcoming financial year 2024-25 budget for the welfare of farm workers.
The organisation held the rally in front of the National Press Club where its president Fazlur Rahman called for sufficient budget allocation to introduce a rationing system and pension scheme for farm workers.
The event was chaired by Fazlur Rahman and included speeches from general secretary of the Samiti Anwar Hossain Reza, central leaders Sohel Ahmed and Arnab Sarker, and Krishak Samiti leader Zahid Hossain Khan, among others.
The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
