Scores of houses were burnt in a fire that broke out at a blue-collar workers’ colony at Kaliakair in Gazipur on Friday.

A team of firefighters doused the fire after an effort of one hour.

‘At least 70 houses along the four lanes of the colony were burnt in the fire,’ he said.

He said that on information, four firefighting units of Kaliakair and Konabari fire service went to the spot and brought the blaze under control at about 2:15pm.

No casualties have been reported so far, he said.

‘The cause of the fire will be known after investigation,’ added the fire service officer.
