A woman died after she was hit by a pickup van on Beribadh road in Hazaribagh area of the capital Dhaka on Monday.
The deceased, Shilpi Akhter, 42, a house help, was a native of Barishal district.
Her son Md Rabby said that the accident occurred around 11:30am when his mother was hit by a pickup van of a courier service while crossing the Beribadh road on her way home from work.
She was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared her dead around 1:30pm, said Rabby.
鈥榃e live in a rented house on Salam Sarkar Road at Boubazar in Hazaribagh area. My father Alamin Howladar is a rickshaw puller,鈥� he said.
Hazaribagh Police Station assistant sub-inspector Sajjadur Rahman said that the police went to the spot and recovered the victim.
鈥榃e seized the pickup van but the driver managed to flee the scene,鈥� he said.
The body was kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy, added the police official.
