The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday dismissed a leave to appeal seeking bar on GM Quader鈥檚 responsibility as Jatiya Party chairman.
A four-member bench in the Appellate Division led by Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order.
At the same time, the Appellate Division asked the High Court to settle the rule on the matter.
Former MP Ziaul Haque Mridha, also an expelled leader of the JP, filed a case on October 4, 2022, seeking an injunction against GM Quader in performing duties as Jatiya Party chairman.
In view of the plaintiff鈥檚 application, on October 31 of that year, the Joint Dhaka District Judge Court-1 issued a temporary order barring GM Quader to act as JP chairman.
Later, GM Quader filed an application seeking cancellation to the ban which the District Judge court of Dhaka rejected it.
As Quader applied for a revision before the High Court, the ban order was suspended. In addition, the High Court also issued a rule in this regard.
Later, an appeal was filed in the Appellate Division seeking cancellation of the High Court order.
