The Anti-Corruption Commission on Sunday filed two separate cases against businessman Md Masudur Rahman and his wife Eliza Aktar Urmi on charges of amassing wealth worth Tk 13.18 crore beyond known sources of income.

Assistant director of the commission Mohammad Jaynal Abedin filed the cases with its integrated district office in Dhaka-1, said ACC deputy director Aktarul Islam.


According to the cases statements, Masudur Rahman amassed movable and immovable wealth worth Tk 9.46 crore. But the commission, during its inquiry, found legal sources of income against his wealth worth only Tk 1.03 crore.

The commission also found that Masud鈥檚 wife Urmi amassed movable and immovable wealth worth Tk 4.76 crore beyond known sources of income.

The couple amassed the movable and immovable wealth from June 30, 1990, to September 2017, read the case statement.

They are currently living in a flat in MF village in Dhaka鈥檚 Madhya Badda area. They are also shareholders of different companies, relating to the ready-made garments sector in the capital, added the ACC officials.
