A boy suffered severe splinter injuries after an abandoned crude bomb exploded in Naya Paltan area in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.

The boy was Sanny, 16, a rag picker. He suffered severe injuries in both of his hands and legs.


The boy said that he found a shopping bag near an automobile shop while picking rags in Naya Paltan area.

An explosion occurred when he started searching inside the bag.

Police first took the boy to Central Police Hospital in Rajarbagh and later shifted him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said sub-inspector of the Paltan police station Mohammad Ali.

‘The boy received splinter injuries in legs and hands and other parts of his body,’ Mohammad Ali said, adding that the boy lives in the city’s Kakrain area with his father Titu Miah.

Sentu Mia, inspector (investigation) of the Paltan police station, said that they were investigating the incident.
