Theatre troupe Kanthoshilon staged the seventh show of its production titled ‘Tajmahaler Tender’ at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.

Tajmahaler Tender, the 10th production of Kanthoshilon, has been written by Indian playwright Ajay Shukla. The satirical play has been translated into Bangla by Professor Shafiqunnabee and directed by Mir Borkat.


The play explores what would happen if Shah Jahan tried to build the Taj Mahal today.

In the play, Mughal emperor Shah Jahan entrusts his chief engineer Guptaji with the task to build the Taj Mahal in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz. Guptaji and his assistant Sudhir team up with businessman Bhaiyaji and begin to mislead Shah Jahan.

They use various tricks to deceive the emperor and start embezzling huge amounts of money before the construction of the Taj Mahal begins and the play moves forward.

Shahidullah Kaiser, Irin Khanom, Sohel Rana, Salam Khokon, Shofiqul Islam Shofi, Ahmadul Hasan Hansu, Al Mamun Siddik, JM Maruf Siddique, Iqbal Hossain, Aparesh Saha, Anannya Goswami, Shafique Siddique, Nibir Rahman and Md Abdul Kaium played different characters in the play.
