
Architect and writer Shameem Aminur Rahman depicts the evolution of audio devices at the exhibition titled ‘Koler Gaan: Ekal Sekal’ under way at the Nalini Kanta Bhattasali Gallery of the Bangladesh National Museum in Dhaka.
He has displayed phonographs and vinyl records from his collection at the exhibition, which also features old radios, televisions, cassette players, reel-to-reel audio recorders and radiograms.
The exhibition, organised by the Bangladesh National Museum, also features the journey of gramophone records in the Indian subcontinent.
People can also learn about the life and work of Gauhar Jaan, Begum Akhtar, Indubala, Kanan Bala, Allauddin Khan as well as the journey of HMV and Dhaka Records by visiting the exhibition.
Besides, posters of renowned foreign musicians who supported Bangladesh in 1971 have been displayed at the exhibition.
‘Tradition and history teach us to love our country. I hope this exhibition will play a role in making music lovers aware of the evolution of audio devices,’ said Shameem Aminur Rahman.
The exhibition, which was inaugurated on April 27, will end on May 12.
