
Different dance troupes celebrated International Dance Day organising programmes at separate venues in Dhaka on Monday.
Bangladesh Nrityashilpi Sangstha brought down the curtain on a week-long programme at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Nrittoshilpi Foundation Bangladesh and Bangladesh National Museum jointly inaugurated a two-day programme at Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Auditorium of the museum marking International Dance Day.
Bangladesh Nrityashilpi Sangstha organised a week-long programme from April 23 to 29 in Dhaka.
On Monday, the BNS organised a dance show at Central Shaheed Minar in the morning. Later, a procession was brought out from the venue.
The BNS organised the closing ceremony of its week-long programme at the National Theatre Hall of the BSA in the evening.
The programme featured discussion, dance show and awards ceremony.
The BNS honoured dancer Shamim Ara Nipa with Sammana Padak. The organisation also honoured its former adviser Mohammad Elias Haider and former vice-president Nigar Chowdhury with Nrityacharya Bulbul Chowdhury Smriti Padak.
Bangladesh Police Dance Troupe, Bangladesh Nrityashilpi Sangstha, Ansar Dance Academy, Srishtishil Academy and Nrityarang staged group dance recitals at the event.
Saju Ahmed and Munmun Ahmed staged Kathak dance while Tamanna Rahman staged Manipuri dance recital.
Dancer Selina Haque staged a solo performance titled ‘Nritya Sur’, Arif Hossain Shamim staged ‘Nabaras’, Anik Bose staged a dance recital synchronised with the song O Amar Desher Mati, Farhana Chowdhury Baby staged dance recital with Rakte Bona Desh, M R Wasek staged dance recital with Ranga Matir Pathe, Samina Husain Prema staged dance recital with Chal Jai Chal Jai and Prantik Deb staged dance recital with Gahana Kusuma Kunja Majhe.
G M Boby staged Keerthanam Bharatanatyam dance, Benazir Salam staged Odissi dance, Antar Dewan staged a dance recital titled ‘Colours of Hill’, Emdadul Haque Milon staged ‘Ananda Dhara Bohiche Bhubane’.
Mouli and Imran staged a duet dance recital titled ‘Melbondhon’ and Bangladesh Shilpaklala Academy dance troupe staged its recent dance production titled ‘Amar Parichoy’ based on Syed Shamsul Haque’s poem with the same title.
Nrittoshilpi Foundation Bangladesh and Bangladesh National Museum have organised a two-day programme at the museum.
Former state minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid was present as chief guest at the programme.
Freedom fighter Nasrin Ahmed, UNESCO Bangladesh officer-in-charge Susan Vize, dancers Shibli Mohammad and Shamim Ara Nipa were present as special guests at the inaugural ceremony, which was presided over by Md Kamruzzaman.
The opening day’s programme featured dance recitals by special children’s dance troupe of SWID Bangladesh, Kalpatoru, Nritya Probaho, Bhangima, Sohag Dance Troupe, Samarpan Kala, Surobhi and Ghungur.
Besides, Kolkata-based dance artiste Suman Mandal performed at the venue.
The two-day programme organised by Nrittoshilpi Foundation Bangladesh and Bangladesh National Museum will end on Tuesday.
