A Rohingya leader was hacked to death in the Ukhia camp of Cox鈥檚 Bazar on Tuesday night.
Deceased Syedul Amin, 45, is son of Ashraf Ali of Camp-2/W in A-11 Block of Kutupalong Camp under Ukhia upazila. He is the leader of the camp.
Officer-in-charge of Ukhia police Md Shamim Hossain confirmed the matter.
He said that on Tuesday night in front of the mosque of Camp-2/W in D-Block, unidentified attackers hacked the Rohingya leader, leaving him seriously injured.
He was taken to Cox鈥檚 Bazar Sadar Hospital immediately where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The body was kept at the Cox鈥檚 Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The official said that the process of taking legal action was underway in this regard.
