A 34-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by his rivals over previous enmity at Nandail upazila in Mymensingh on Sunday evening.
The deceased was Rana Ahmed, son of Abul Hashem, of Banati village of Rajgati union of the upazila. Police and locals said that there was a long-standing enmity between Abul Hashem and Bakul in the village.
They attacked Rana with sharp weapons when he was operating a mobile phone near his house on Sunday evening, leaving him critically injured.
Hearing his screams, locals rushed to the spot and took him to upazila health complex, where physicians declared him dead. Nandail police station officer-in-charge Abdul Majid said that the previous rivalry between Hashem and Bakul might have led to the killing.
Three suspects have so far been arrested in this connection and drives are on to arrest the others, he said.
