Shehela Parveen, wife of Bangladesh Technical Education Board chairman Md Ali Akbar Khan, and two others have been arrested for their alleged involvement in selling fake certificates and arranging false online authentication, the detectives of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police said on Sunday.

Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Tofazzal Hossain remanded Shehela Parveen for two days in police custody while two others who were arrested on April 18 and 19 were now in police custody.


They were shown arrested in a case filed with the Mirpur police station on April 1 under the Cybersecurity Act earlier following arrest of other officials earlier this month, Detective Branch officials said at a press conference at the DMP media centre.

Shehela Parveen was arrested following an interrogation on Saturday night after taking her from their Uttara house in Dhaka.

Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, the additional commissioner for the DB at the DMP, said that BTEB system analyst ATM Shamsuzzaman, the main accused in the case filed for selling fake certificates and co-accused Gorai Survey Institute director Sanjida Akhter Koli gave confessional statements.

Sanjida Akter alias Koli, Hilful Fujul Technical Institute principal Sarder Golam Mostofa alias Mustafizur Raman and Dhaka Polytechnic School and College director Maksudur Rahman were also arrested on the same allegations.

Earlier on April 1, the DB led by Lalbagh deputy commissioner Mashiur Rahman arrested ATM Shamsuzzaman and his associate Faisal Hossain in a drive in the capital鈥檚 Pirerbagh for their alleged involvement in selling forged certificates.

The DB seized forged marks sheets, registration cards, and computers and printers used for making those.

Based on their information, the DB arrested Gorai Survey Institute director Sanjida Akter in Kustia district headquarters.

Hilful Fujul Technical Institute and BM College principal Mustafizur Rahman was arrested at Mirpur on April 18 and Dhaka Polytechnic School and College director Maksudur Rahman Mamun was arrested at Jatrabari on April 19.

The DB officials said that Shamsuzzaman and his associate sold over 5,000 forged certificates and marks sheets.

In a press release issued in this regard, education minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury earlier said that an investigation was going on to find out that who else was involved in the incident.
