
Bangla Academy Award-winning writer and artist Dhruba Esh has been admitted to Health and Hope Hospital in Bangladesh capital Dhaka due to a lung infection.
Bangla Academy Award-winning fiction writer and essayist Imtiar Shamim told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that Dhruba Esh was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday.
‘Dhruba has been suffering from breathing problems. As his condition deteriorated, he was taken to the hospital,’ said Imtiar Shamim, hoping, ‘I hope that he will recover soon and return to doing everything he loves.’
Fiction writer and essayist Faizul Islam, who went to see Dhruba Esh at the hospital, mentioned that he was undergoing treatment at the High Dependency Unit of the hospital.
‘He is receiving high-dose antibiotics. It may take seventy-two hours to stabilise his condition. Doctors are attending him intensively,’ he said, adding, ‘Phenomena has triggered his breathing distress. Oxygen saturation has gone down remarkably. So, the doctors have come up with antibiotic support.’
A renowned cover artist, Dhruba Esh’s literary works include Supari Patar Gari, Surja Mamar Bachchader Galpa, Thik Dukkur Bela, Bhootpur, Raphkhata, Arek Neeshitha, Baam Haate Chhoy Angul, Asakal and Phaltu Bachan.
For his contribution to juvenile literature, Dhruba Esh bagged the Bangla Academy Literary Award 2022.
