As part of a five-day visit to Bangladesh, trade envoy of the United Kingdom to Bangladesh, Baroness Rosie Winterton of Doncaster DBE, and her delegation visited the Chattogram Port on Wednesday.

Upon arrival at the port, she met with Commodore Ahamed Amin Abdullah, member, harbour and marine, said a press release on Thursday.


During the meeting, they discussed issues of bilateral interest. Baroness Rosie expressed interest in the current operational capacity and efficiency of Chattogram Port, various development projects, security measures, direct shipping and maritime education.

The UK delegation was given a presentation on the future plans of the port.

After the courtesy call, the delegation visited the operational activities of port and appreciated the overall progress and efficiency of the port.

The delegations of both countries expressed their hope that this visit would take Bangladesh-UK relations, especially around Chattogram Port, to a new height in the future.

Representatives of both countries, including the British high commissioner Sarah Cooke, were present during the visit.
