In a joint initiative, the Chittagong Port Authority and Chattogram Customs House will keep operations running round the clock during the next Eid-ul-Azha holidays鈥攅xcept from 8:00am to 4:00pm on Eid day鈥攖o ensure smooth import-export activities.
Both agencies have pledged to maintain regular services, including hotline support, said a press release on Tuesday.
The customs department has activated a 24/7 hotline managed by assistant traffic manager Kamrul Islam Majumder, 01715-163999, while terminal manager Md Saiful Alam, 01819-321560, will coordinate emergency matters through a dedicated task force.
Despite past efforts during Eid holidays, authorities noted low importer participation in cargo delivery. They now urge businesses to utilise the extended services this year to collect containerised goods without delay.
Additionally, on a trial basis, all Full Container Load containers鈥攅xcept those for BGMEA鈥攚ill be moved to off-docks for two months after Eid for easier clearance. All stakeholders have been asked to prepare accordingly to keep trade flows uninterrupted.
