A market called ‘Dhaka Haat’ will be set up at Uttara Diabari in the capital for small and medium enterprises.
‘A ‘Dhaka Haat’ will be set up in Uttara Diabari area for small and medium enterprises entrepreneurs. The Dhaka North City Corporation and SME Foundation will jointly implement it. The activities will start soon,’ DNCC administrator Mohammad Ejaz told a meeting on Tuesday.
This decision was taken in a joint meeting of the DNCC led by its administrator Mohammad Ejaz and SME Foundation delegation led by its chairperson Md Musfiqur Rahman at Gulshan Nagar Bhaban.
The DNCC administrator said that the two organisations had reached a consensus to jointly launch temporary holiday markets in various places, including Agargaon in Dhaka and operate business incubation centres, to create new entrepreneurs. Â
DNCC chief executive officer Abu Sayeed Md Kamruzzaman, SME Foundation managing director Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, deputy managing directors Nazim Hasan Sattar, Farzana Khan, general managers Mohammad Jahangir Hossain and Md Abdus Salam Sardar, among others, were present.
In the meeting, Mohammad Ejaz said, ‘Illegal businesses cannot be carried out by occupying roads and footpaths. We will issue trade licences and provide cooperation for legitimate businesses as we are trying to create business opportunities.’
He said that trade licenses could now be collected from the DNCC from home but earlier it was heard that bribes were exchanged for getting trade licences.
‘Now corruption has stopped because it is completely online. Everyone can get trade licences from home. You can apply for trade licences online by uploading the necessary information and documents and can download the trade licences from home,’ the administrator added.
