Savar-based theatre troupe Jagaroni premiered its 21st production titled Kadamati at the Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of the Bangladesh Mahila Samity on Friday.

Kadamati was written by Aniket Paul and directed by Debashish Ghosh while the monodrama was performed by actor Soron K Saha.

The play depicts a Bangladeshi expatriate in a big city in a developed country who leaves his roots for a livelihood and fulfills his dream. In one lonely holiday evening, he recalls his childhood, mother, friends and his beloved one but he cannot return to his country due to the reality of the country.

Stage and light design are credited to Palash Hendry Sen and music to Ramij Raju.

‘It is a reality of the people who leave their roots. Even when surrounded by thousands, at some point, a person who has been uprooted begins to feel deeply alone,’ Debashish Ghosh said, adding that once their roots settled in the foreign land, those very roots made it impossible to return to their own roots.Â
