The Bangladesh-France joint production Invisible Stories, a body puppet theatre performance directed by French puppeteer Laurie Cannac, will be staged in seven cities across France in August, according to a press release.

Premiered in October 2024, the play is both written and directed by Cannac, who drew inspiration from Bangladeshi ghost stories—known for their strange elements and deep cultural meanings.

Invisible Stories follows two scientists researching the influence of ghosts on everyday life in Dhaka. Their journey takes a dramatic turn after visiting Khulna, where they encounter the mysticism and raw power of Sundarban.

The performance blends a rich tapestry of oral traditions, encompassing supernatural tales and ghost stories from all religious communities in Bangladesh.

Performed by Bangladeshi choreographer, theatre artist, and puppeteer Md Farhad Ahmed alongside Laurie Cannac, the production will be showcased in Charleville-Mézières, Paris, Cluny, Dijon, Besançon, and other cities. It is set to appear at prominent venues and festivals, including the Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes, Théâtre Paris-Villette, and Festival Contes Givrés.

Ahead of the France tour, two special shows of Invisible Stories will be staged at the experimental theatre hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on July 4 and 5.
