Two theatre troupes premiered their new productions as part of the event titled Remembering Monsoon Revolution at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.
The cultural affairs ministry patronised the event.
Theatre troupe AntarJatra premiered its play titled Ar Katodin based on Zahir Raihan’s novel at National Theatre Hall of the BSA.
The production was adapted and directed by Khandaker Rakibul Haque.
Cultural organisation Bhoirobee, on the other hand, premiered its production Agnee Shraban at Experimental Theatre Hall written and directed by Eleas Nobi Faisal.
The play Ar Kotodin is set in a war atmosphere where people are seen hiding them and searching for their relatives and being killed without any reason. The play searches for a war-free planet as the world has witnessed a lot of wars.
‘Wherever people fight for their rights, they have to face persecution in the hands of the ruling class,’ Khandaker Rakibul Haque said, adding that the recent student-led mass uprising creates new hope but the question remains how long the rulers will take people’s lives. Â
Agnee Shraban, a musical play based on the recent student-led mass uprising, portrayed an inner journey of human existential crisis and their self-awakening during the uprising.
A total of eleven theatre productions by different theatre troupes will be staged under this project.
Today, the two theatre troupes will stage the productions at the venues.
