Manikganj based-theatre troupe Spandan Theatre Circle staged their first production titled ‘Deyal Janey Sab’ at National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.

The play is based on the recent student-led mass uprising and sacrifice of people.

Written and directed by Shakil Ahmed Sonet, the production was premiered on Thursday at the same venue.

The play revolves round five coffins– every coffin carrying stories of martyrs killed during the uprising.

A narrator, a wall of the street, also one of the witnesses of these tragic stories, narrates the killings by the ousted Awami regime.

The artistes of Spandan portray different characters in the play.

The production is part of the event titled Remembering Monsoon Revolution patronised by the cultural affairs ministry to mark the first anniversary of the student-led mass uprising, known as July uprising, which forced the fall of the authoritarian regime of Sheikh Hasina on August 5.

A total of eleven theatre productions by different theatre troupes will be staged under this project.
