Renowned mime artist Mir Lokman depicted student-led July mass uprising and contemporary issues in a solo mime show at the experimental theatre hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Thursday.

The show titled Lal Michil comprising eight short performances were written and directed by Mir Lokman and Dhaka University Mime Action organised the event. 


Former vice-president of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union Nurul Haque Nur, executive director of Kabi Nazrul Institute Latiful Islam Shibli and Bangladesh Mime Federation secretary general Mahabub Alam were present as guests at the event.

His performance titled Biplabi Othaba Chitrashilpi Kinba Kichui Na depicted a symbolic presentation of the recent student-led mass uprising showing the sequence of events as part of history.

The play is set in 2053, while an artist draws the iconic images of the July movements.

Besides, Mir Lokman staged seven more mime performances, including Chair, Lal Michil, Subodh Palabena Ar and others at the event.

‘As part of protest, I want to carry out the responsibility for an artist to portray contemporary politics, movements and events,’ said Mir Lokman. A huge number of audiences enjoy the 11th solo performance of Mir Lokman.
