
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy brought the curtain of its seven-day Jatra Festival down with staging the production titled Nawab Sirajuddaula at the Open Stage of Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Thursday.
Directed by Abul Hashem, the Jatrabandhu production saw a huge number of audiences at the Open Stage.
Chaired by the BSA director general Syed Jamil Ahmed, the director of the BSA theatre and film department Faiz Zahir delivered welcome speech before staging the jatra, known as open-air folk drama.
‘There are principles of jatra; in the light of which, we want jatra productions to be made in all of the country,’ said Jamil Ahmed.
Our artworks, poetry, songs, and plays inspire us. Which is why, we want all such events to be at the focus of the country, added Jamil Ahmed.
The festival featured seven jatra based on historical and social story.Â
On the opening day, Surubhi Opera staged its production titled Nihata Golap directed by Kabir Khan, said a press release.
