Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy director general Syed Jamil Ahmed on Sunday said that the show of Desh Natok鈥檚 production titled Nityapuran was stopped halfway on Saturday due to security concerns of the audience and the academy.聽

He made the remark in a virtual press conference as ambiguity created on social media about the postponement of the show at the auditorium of National Theatre Hall.聽

On Saturday evening, a group of unidentified people came to the BSA protesting at a Facebook post of Desh Natok member Ehsanul Aziz Babu, as he termed the student-led mass uprising leaders and advisers of the interim government as Rajakars, said Jamil Ahmed.

The academy officials tried to manage them, and the performance was begun. As the protesters created security concerns for audience, performers and the academy, Jamil Ahmed postponed the show and sought pardon to the audience, after a consultation with the theatre troupe.

The protesters also demanded to postpone the show and not to allocate the BSA hall to Desh Natok in future, Jamil Ahmed said, adding that they were forced to stop the show. 聽

鈥榃e tried to talk with the protesters instead of taking help from the law enforcement agencies.聽 Because, we do not want the people face the army. We want to make the BSA for all,鈥 the DG said, adding that he had lost 鈥峚 battle but he would definitely win the war. 聽

Twenty two branches of the BSA were attacked after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina on August 5.
