
The Jahangirnagar University-based theatre troupe Jahangirnagar Theatre staged its production titled ‘Ekti Non-Fiction’ at the JU Central Shaheed Minar on Saturday.
The play was staged on the concluding day of a two-day theatre festival titled ‘Fresher Reception Street Play Festival-2024’ organised by Jahangirnagar Theatre.
‘Ekti Non-Fiction’ was written and directed by Mahfuz Alam Masum and coordinated by Amit Biswas Bapi.
‘Ekti Non-Fiction’ depicted the contemporary decline in moral, social and political standards that reportedly robbed the people of their rights in society.
The play addressed indiscriminate tree felling, corruption, mugging and occupying of residential halls by the ruling party student activists, sexual violence against women and others.
Mahfuzur Rahman Megh, Sayeeda Meher Shaonlee and Amit Biswas Bapi played various characters in the play.
A Dhaka-based theatre troupe, Padatik Natya Parishad, also staged the play titled ‘Telephone Magic’ at the same venue on the same day.
Written by Masud Aziz, the play ‘Telephone Magic’ was directed by Khandakar Atik.
Earlier, theatre troupe Prachyanat staged its production titled ‘Sui Suta’ at the JU Central Shaheed Minar on the campus on the opening day of the festival on Friday.
The play was directed by Sahana Rahman Sumi.
Besides, Jahangirnagar Theatre staged its production titled ‘A Categorise to Rule’, directed by Sayeeda Meher Shaonlee, at the same venue on Friday.
