Theatre troupe Anuswar’s new production titled ‘Bibidh Shok Athaba Sukh’ gives the audience a glimpse into the politics of relation.

The troupe premiered the play and staged three shows of the production at the Anuswar Studio on Pioneer Road, Kakrail on Friday and Saturday.

Saif Suman has written the script and directed Bibidh Shok Athaba Sukh, which is inspired by Professor Abdus Selim’s translation of David Hare’s play ‘The Vertical Hour’.

The play revolves around two characters named Nadia and Dara. Nadia, aged over 35, is a university professor while Dara, aged around 20, is a university student.

Dara comes across Nadia at his university and gradually falls for her. He confesses his love to Nadia when he goes to her house to discuss his thesis work and the play moves forward.

Fauzia Karim Anu played the character of Nadia and SR Sompod played the character of Dara in the play.

Saif Suman said that politics of relation was more important than power politics to him.

‘The play depicts politics of relation, which means the conditions or decisions which impact the biological and social life of humans,’ said Saif Suman, adding that there is beauty in life and relationships.

‘We think less about human psychology. The relationship between two people of different ages and their thoughts have been depicted in the play,’ mentioned Saif Suman.

Besides, Amlan Biswas designed the stage lighting, Yusuf Hassan Arko designed music, Fauzia Karim Anu designed costume and Shakil Shiddhartha designed stage, among others.

Bibidh Shok Athaba Sukh is the 4th studio production and 10th theatrical production of the troupe.

Anuswar, which was founded in 2019, has received acclaim from theatre lovers for its productions, namely Anuddharaniya, Bondha Ghori, Mulya Amulya, Tinkarri, Jibon, Hutash Moron, Jadukar, Raymangal and Hermachis Cleopatra.
